BRONCOS PLACE EIGHTH IN JCSU INVITATIONAL

Fayetteville State University men's track and field team is still making an outstanding showing in their meets. At the Johnson C. Smith University Track and Field Invitational March 31, 2007, fifteen Broncos placed in the events they participated in.

The meet brought together over 250 student-athletes competing in several events, some setting automatic qualifying marks for the upcoming NCAA Division II Track and Field Championship to be held at Johnson C. Smith University's Irwin Belk Complex in May.

Fayetteville State University freshman Bobby Wilder took seventh place in the 100-meter dash with a 11.09 to lead all Broncos runners in the event. He was joined by Howard Fuller, 14th (11.38); Brad Woods, 18th (11.45); Lucius McCravin, 25th (11.76); Pierre Clay, 27th (11.98); Lionel Garland, 29th (12.19); Jeffery Cox, 30th (12.20); and John Mahan, 31st (12.24).

Wilder again led FSU's runners in the 200-meter dash. He ran the distance in 22.81 and finished 14th. Alex McKnight covered the same distance in 23.44. Also placing in the dash were Fuller, 31st (24.00); Woods 32nd (24.18); McCravin, 33rd (24.20); Clay, 35th (24.61); Mahan, 36th (24.63), Garland, 38th (24.86); and Cox ,40th (25.38).
 

 

FSU's Alex McKnight led four Broncos in the 400-neter dash and finished with the top twenty runners in the event, completing the distance in 50.56 for 14th. Frank Bentley was 21st covering the distance I 52.96. John Mahan and Jonathan Cobb were 27th and 28th with times of 55.16 and 1.01.53.

The men's "B" 4 x 100-meter relay team consisting of Jeffery Cox, Terrell Dorsey, Lucius McCravin, and Brad Woods, was sixth and covered the distance in 44.55. The "A" Team of Darryl Barnett, Pierre Clay, Howard Fuller, and Bobby Wilder was eighth with a 48.11 time.

Running on the Bronco's 4 x 400-meter relay team Frank Bentley, Christopher Chance, II, Jonathan Cobb, and Ernest Cole finished the event in fourth place running the event in 3.25.57.

In the field events, Edward Graham was ninth in the shot-put and sixth in the discus with tosses of 11.30m and 35.58m, respectively.
