Hanger received his Master's Degree in Leadership and Administration-Secondary Education from the University of Massachusetts and his Bachelor's Degree in Black Literature from SUNY-Binghamton. In 2002, he graduated from the NCAA's Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority for Males. In addition to his coaching assignment, Hanger is a Lecturer with the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Human Services and department's Associate Athletic Director for Internal Affairs.
