Fayetteville, NC - Council member Charles Evans will recognize the Fayetteville State University men's basketball team for their success during the 2008 CIAA Tournament at Fayetteville City Hall, April 14, 2008 at 7:00 pm. The Fayetteville State University men's basketball team has worked diligently this season to make it to the CIAA championship finals, and believes it to be a great honor to be recognized by the city for such hard work and dedication. With the help of a great coaching staff, FSU men's basketball team made it to the finals and was runner up for the CIAA championship. During a recent interview with Dr. McLean, FSU's Athletic Director, he stated "It's always good making it to the semi finals and finals. I am very proud of the young men on the team; they played their hearts out to make it as far as they did." He went on to say that "It's absolutely wonderful being recognized by the city of Fayetteville. It gives the fans and the university a good feeling." Coach Hanger, FSU's men's basketball coach, stated that "It is a great joy to be given such acknowledgment. This is not only an opportunity for the team and the university to be recognized; it is also one that will expose the players to possible career options. This will give them the chance to meet some of our local political leaders, and perhaps inspire some of them to enter into similar career paths." The Fayetteville State University Athletic Department graciously appreciates such recognition and thanks council member Charles Evans and Fayetteville City Hall for taking the time out to show their appreciation to the men's basketball team.
